John F. Kennedy International Airport
In 1943 construction began on marshland in Queens, originally called Major General Alexander E. Anderson Airport, changing in 1948 to New York International Airport, Anderson Field or 'Idlewild'. In tribute to John F. Kennedy the airport was renamed JFK in 1963.
